Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Solar Rebate Victoria, a Victorian household is required to meet the stated criteria:

  • They are the owner-occupied property
  • The owners have a combined household taxable income of less than $1,80,000 (As per Australian Tax Office notice of assessment)
  • It is an existing property valued at under $3 million.
  • The owners do not have a pre-installed solar PV system. (This condition does not apply to early adopters who`ve installed solar systems before 1st November 2009, who wish to replace or expand their existing system)

Step 1

The households need to approach an authorized solar retailer and obtain a Victoria`s solar energy quote.

Step 2

The authorized retailer would then upload the Victorian solar rebate application form (quote) into Victorian solar rebate portal, which shall verify the application for the eligibility of the households on the preceding grounds.

Step 3

Upon the verification, a contract needs to be signed with an authorized retailer, and an eligibility number will be provided to the household to facilitate the installation process.

Rebate value under the Victorian Solar Rebate Program

The rebate value under the Victorian Solar Rebate Program is ‘up to $1,850 or 50% of the price; whichever is lowest.

  • If you purchase a solar system for $3,000, you may be eligible for a $1,500 rebate
  • If you purchase a solar system for $3,700 you may be eligible for the maximum $1,850 rebate
  • Remember, if you get a system for $6,000 you can only apply for a $1,850 rebate because the rebate is capped at a price of $1,850.
    The Victorian government’s rebate is available on top of the federal scheme. This means after receiving a solar rebate under the federal rebate scheme, you are receiving a further rebate of up to $1,850.
